Backyard Insects

March 7, 2025 by Dennis

The number of insects and spider species in my yard has dwindled over the years. This may be due to the number of turkeys that pass through. The number varies from four males traveling together to nearly 50 on one visit. The number of birds visiting our yard likely contributes to that decline.

Seeing is Believing

While mostly true, occasionally the eye can be fooled. This appears to be an earthworm on some leaf litter. It is. But the worm is four feet long and 1-2 inches in diameter. Photographed in Sumaco, Ecuador.
